We decided to ask our team members for their predictions about what Halloween costumes are going to be making their debut this season, and which classic costumes will once again reign supreme. Here’s a list of the costumes that we think will be popular in 2021. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Getting Into the Game</b></h3>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Squid Game &#8211;</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Netflix’s new show skyrocketed in popularity immediately after its release, and remains the most-watched series to date. Add in the characters’ simple and easy-to-replicate outfits, and we’re sure that Squid Game-themed costumes will make an appearance on the Halloween costume circuit this year. </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Among Us &#8211;</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Another immensely popular game that had a hold on younger generations is the online game Among Us. Kids and teens everywhere were glued to their screens, trying to identify the “imposter” among them. This leads us to predict that Among Us characters are another simple costume idea we will be seeing quite a bit of while out trick or treating. </span></p>

<h3><b>The Classics</b></h3>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Harry Potter &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">What’s Halloween without a few wizards! Harry Potter remains a beloved book (and movie) series that has proven to be a very popular costume choice for both kids and adults. An incredibly devoted fan base that only continues to grow ensures that this trend is here to stay in 2021. </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Zombie Everything &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Though already a popular Halloween costume choice, the semi-recent explosion of Zombie-themed tv and cinema cements zombie costumes as a must-have on our list of predictions. Zombie bride, zombie doctor, zombie teacher: with a little makeup the possibilities are endless! </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Superheroes &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whether you’re a Marvel or DC fan, Superhero costumes have been and probably always will be a staple when it comes to Halloween. This year, our team predicts seeing quite a few costumes from the latest superhero movies like Wanda Vision, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman to name a few. </span></p>

<h3><b>Celebrity Influence</b></h3>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Kim K at the Met Gala &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Every year, pop culture has a huge influence on Halloween costume choice. This year, we’re predicting that Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala outfit, an all-black morph suit featuring a flowing train, will be a hit at Halloween parties everywhere.  </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Jojo Siwa &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">The dancer, singer, and actress, who recently appeared on Dancing With the Stars and experienced a huge growth in popularity on TikTok, has been thrust into the spotlight more than ever before. Jojo’s wildly unique style, complete with huge hair bows, bright colors, and sequins galore offers an easily recognizable look that we foresee being a popular Halloween costume choice this season.  </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Britney Spears &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">#FreeBritney was all over social media in recent months as a result of her ongoing battle against her conservatorship. Though her former looks (Baby One More Time, Toxic, and the iconic Jean dress) have been popular costume choices in the past, the drama surrounding her personal life puts her at the forefront of people’s minds, leading us to predict an explosion of Britney-inspired costumes in 2021.</span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bernie Sanders &#8211; </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you were online at the beginning of this year, then you’re familiar with the Bernie Sanders meme. His knit mittens and crossed legs at the Biden Inauguration delighted internet audiences and quickly became a popular meme format that is still making appearances today. An easily replicated and especially comfortable outfit, we believe the Bernie meme will definitely make an appearance at a few Halloween parties this year. </span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This past Monday, around 11:40 am, DownDetector, an outage-tracking website was flooded with reports of access issues involving popular social media apps including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger. Upset users took to Twitter to discover that Facebook was in the throes of a software update gone horribly wrong. For a little over 6 hours, Facebook users were completely in the dark, disconnected from the online world we’ve been accustomed to using daily. Not only was the Facebook app down, but data tracking platforms, e-commerce accounts, and every other site logged into with or supported by Facebook were offline. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Marketing agencies, Social Media Managers, and everyday Facebook users were without the vital communication network that allows us to connect with our friends, loved ones, and consumers. Many small businesses that rely heavily on Facebook for day-to-day operations were essentially closed. The fear of a potentially disastrous revenue loss loomed overhead. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Though Facebook and all subsidiaries did eventually return to operational, we’re left reflecting on how much power apps have, and how little control we have. As Facebook users everywhere attempt to catch up on lost time, we want to use this as an opportunity to shed some light on ways that social media users, and business owners especially, can take back control of their online platforms. </span></p>

<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For small businesses, it’s difficult to avoid relying solely on Facebook to conduct business. The social media giant really is a one-stop-shop for almost everything you need. Advertising campaigns, e-commerce markets, customer outreach, and data tracking can all be performed in-app. Facebook’s wide variety of business tools can make it seem like a paradise for business owners. However, this outage is a scary reminder that all of these elements can disappear in a matter of minutes. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> To combat this lack of control we’re all undoubtedly feeling, we recommend that business owners start by making a point to differentiate their strategic marketing efforts. We know you’re probably thinking “but I can do everything I need right on Facebook!” And you’re right, you probably can; but it’s worth investing in Google ads, Amazon Ads, or other social media advertising channels, depending on what’s right for your business. Have you considered Pinterest for Business, leveling up your LinkedIn presence, developing a TikTok strategy, and boosting your Youtube? Not only does this lessen the fear of losing your entire online presence to another outage, but it also gives you more control over your advertising, and allows you to potentially reach a broader audience as a result of utilizing different channels.  </span></p>

<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">Put More Effort Into Your Website</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the many small business owners who partially (or entirely) rely on Facebook for selling their products and services, this outage was especially damaging. For 6 hours, almost an entire business day, online business owners were losing out on revenue. The outage also highlighted the fact that their business was largely dependent on an outside organization whose operations are completely out of their hands. In this case, the outage was temporary, but there may come a day when the internet monolith that is Facebook is no longer a viable business tool. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We feel the best way to prepare for the unknown is to focus on your business’s website, the largest online presence over which you have complete control. If someday, customers can no longer find you on Facebook, your website will be the next place they look. Focus on building up your website so that no matter what happens in the world of social media, you will still have a strong internet presence, and you will still be able to conduct business online. We surely hope Facebook is here to stay, but it never hurts to prepare. </span></p>

		<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For marketers, social media managers, photographers, and those who simply enjoy taking pictures, there is an ongoing debate regarding which camera is better- a smartphone or DSLR camera? After doing some research, we’ve determined that it’s not so much a question of which is better,  it’s more of a question of when to use each type of camera.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The answer to that lies in the types of photos, or videos, being taken. In the world of photography, there are a few main categories of photos. The first is still photography, such as portraits, flat lays, landscapes, 3/4s, and similar styles. Then there are photos involving movement, like sporting events, images of crowds, and active landscapes (a waterfall for example). Within these categories, there are different types of lighting (day vs night), varying levels of zoom, and of course, video. Professional photographers know that this list is an abridged version of the many different styles of photography, but for the purpose of this discussion, these are the most important. </span></p>

<h3><b>DSLR Basics </b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the case of the DSLR, one of the biggest benefits is the ability of the camera to auto-focus. This takes the guesswork out of adjusting and readjusting the focus for every photo. But, while a DSLR can do some of the work for you, it is also extremely customizable, meaning you can alter the settings to make it work for various types of photography. DSLR cameras give the photographer absolute control of the camera’s shutter speed, aperture, and ISO settings, meaning more control over the shoot overall. Other benefits include:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ability to purchase different lenses and accessories to enhance photo capabilities</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Better sensors, meaning they can collect more light, leading to better image quality</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Longer battery life </span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While these are all great benefits, it’s worth noting that DSLR cameras are not without a few drawbacks. When comparing DSLR to smartphones, the obvious difference is their size. DSLR cameras are bulkier and may not be as useful for shooting on the go. Additionally, accessories can be expensive and may not be worth the cost if only used once in a blue moon. Finally, some have stated that since video is not the main intended purpose of DSLR the quality may not be as good, but there are many photographers and videographers who would dispute that claim, having utilized DSLR to produce excellent, high-quality, professional videos. </span></p>

<h3><b>Smartphone Basics</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Smartphone camera quality has come a long way since its humble origins. Today, image quality on smartphones rivals that of traditional DSLR cameras, with a much higher resolution than older models. Many smartphones even have multiple built-in lenses, allowing for a wider range of zoom capabilities. Video quality is also noticeably better, with a variety of frame options and up to 4K video resolution. Another important benefit of smartphone cameras is social media integration. The ability to shoot vertically for Snapchat and TikTok can be a game changer for social media managers who often need their photos to fit this aspect ratio. Additional benefits of using smartphones for photography include:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="3"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Portability</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="3"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Increased storage capabilities (ex. iCloud on iPhone) </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="3"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Editing apps directly on the phone shortens the time between taking the photo, editing, and sharing</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As with every piece of technology, smartphones have a few drawbacks of their own, the biggest being lighting issues. While newer smartphones are equipped with better sensors, they’re not advanced enough to rival DSLR cameras. Many smartphones now feature “Night Mode” to</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> counteract this issue, but the photos are still lower quality than those a traditional camera would produce in the same situation. Another drawback is that since smartphones are much smaller and not ergonomically built the same way cameras are, they can be difficult to keep steady. For clearer still photos, you may need to purchase a phone mount or tripod to achieve the quality you’re looking for. </span></p>

<h3><b>Recap</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So, which camera should you use for each type of photo? Here are our conclusions, based on the strengths and weaknesses highlighted above.</span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Stills</strong> &#8211;</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> This is highly dependent on the level of zoom needed and the lighting requirements. DSLR cameras would be ideal for photos that are very zoomed in, like microphotography, as well as photos with lower light. Meanwhile, smartphones may be more beneficial for zoomed-out photos like landscapes with bright natural lighting. </span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Action Shots</strong> </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8211; If your subject is continuously moving, DSLR is the better choice because of its advanced autofocus capabilities</span></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Video</strong> &#8211;</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> The jury is still out on this one. If you know your way around a DSLR camera and have the necessary accessories and photography experience, beautiful, high-quality videos are certainly possible.  However, for those just starting out in their photography career, or for those who simply want to record videos of their cat, a smartphone camera can work just as well. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that the type of camera you should use is very much dependent on the type of photography, the situation, and the intended purpose of these photos. For novice photographers, smartphone quality is certainly good enough for everyday use. For professional photographers, it’s worth utilizing both cameras equally to capitalize on their strengths and produce the best photos possible. That is why the idea of color psychology has become so widespread in the marketing industry and is often looked to for guidance on a wide range of projects. Color psychology is defined as, “the study of how colors affect perceptions and behaviors”.  In marketing specifically, color psychology focuses on how certain colors influence brand perception and either drive or deter consumers from patronizing certain businesses. Below you’ll find a brief overview of commonly used colors, and the subconscious perceptions they are said to create. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Color experts have classified the color red as one associated with power, love, or fear. Red often evokes very strong feelings and is used when brands are trying to make a statement. Rebranding is more than updating your logo, it’s altering everything from colors, typography, photography, names, taglines, and messaging. Here are important questions to ask yourself before deciding to dive into a full-on rebrand. </span></p>

<h4><em><strong>1. Are you experiencing the following issues?</strong></em></h4>
